The 2019 Barolo is a beautiful new release from Elio Altare. Silvia Altare (Elio's daughter) tells the following story: "The 2019 vintage was easy to make, resulting in wines that are rich, bold and powerful. The 2018 vintage was lean and 2017 was hot, but 2019 is classic ." The grapes for this wine come from three Barolo villages (some owned by the winery, others leased), and the winemaking was straightforward, with short maceration times and few rackings, says Silvia. The result is vinous and fruity, with plump cherries and blackberries and a structured, full-bodied approach. The wine should mature in the bottle for a few more years.
