The AALTO project, launched in February 1999 in the picturesque wine-growing region of Ribera del Duero in Spain, shines like a sparkling gem in the world of wine. Mariano García and Javier Zaccagnini had a noble vision: with AALTO they wanted to create a wine of incomparable quality that captures the soul of the surrounding landscape and, after a long aging period, unites it into a harmonious masterpiece.
In 2006, the two visionaries were joined by the respected Masaveu and Nozaleda families, who already owned their own wineries in various regions of Spain. With their concentrated expertise and stability, AALTO became a solid star in the wine firmament that continues to shine today.
Originally, AALTO's fine wines were produced in rented facilities in Roa (Burgos) from 1999 until the 2004 harvest. But over the years, with the consolidation of the project, the search began for a new home for their winemaking. Finally, a jewel of 15 hectares was found in Quintanilla de Arriba (Valladolid), which became the perfect new winery.
The first phase of the new bodega building was completed in 2005 and marked the beginning of a new era. The modern design of the bodega combines the highest quality standards with the natural beauty of the Ribera del Duero. It blends seamlessly into the characteristic surroundings and exudes simple elegance. The second phase, the public area, was completed in 2016 and turned the bodega into a place where wine lovers can experience the magic of AALTO up close.
