Dolcetto d'Alba 2022 - Massolino (75cl)

Dolcetto, in German “The little cutie”, is a little-known grape variety from picturesque Piedmont that is even more popular with connoisseurs of good everyday wines and, contrary to its name, produces dry red wines of medium content. The Massolino family business was founded in 1896 and has even been able to increase its high level of quality thanks to the takeover by the two young brothers Franco and Roberto. They master the balancing act between tradition and modernity with flying colors and can now call themselves specialists for all three important red grape varieties in Piedmont.
Intoxicating scents of berry compote, licorice and a little leather reveal themselves on the nose and on the palate you experience a warm start followed by a juicy, spicy finish that tastes of almonds. You shouldn't overuse the word drinkability, but if it's done at such a high level and so chic, then it's worth keeping a small supply of it just in case.
